ALL-ON-4 Implants

All-On-4 Implants in Santa Barbara, CA

It's estimated that 178 million Americans are missing at least one tooth and forty million are missing multiple teeth. Luckily, surgical implants have improved drastically, making it easier and more affordable than ever to have a permanent solution to missing teeth.

If you are one of the many Americans experiencing loss of multiple teeth, All-On-4 implants may be the perfect solution. They are easy to care for, natural-looking, less invasive than multiple single implants, and they can last decades or even the rest of your life!

What Are All-On-4 Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a surgically placed anchor with a connecting prosthetic tooth. Traditional implants typically replace a single missing tooth, but when all or most of the teeth in an arch are missing, single dental implants are not an ideal solution.

That's where All-On-4 dental implants come in. Our All-On-4 implants can replace a full arch of teeth at once with only four anchor placements!

Why Choose All-On-4 Implants?

Before All-On-4 implants, dentures were one of the only options for people with multiple missing teeth. Although dentures are a great solution for many people, if you're looking for a treatment that looks and functions like your natural teeth, All-On-4 dental implants are a great choice.

What is the Process for All-On-4 Dental Implants?

We start with a initial consultation which includes photographs, x-rays, and impressions of your mouth and gums. Dr. Omid will answer any questions you have and then work with you on an individualized implant treatment plan. All of our implants are custom crafted, and our All-On-4 implant arch is no different. We will work with you to create a natural looking implant and a smile that you love.

Placing Your All-On-4 Anchors

The next appointment will involve using the latest technology so that we can skillfully place your anchors. The posterior implants are tilted during the placement to ensure a secure fit into your bone. A temporary and comfortable bridge will be used to allow your mouth to heal and your implants to stabilize.

Our priority is to ensure that you are relaxed and comfortable no matter what treatment you're coming in for. We have worked hard to create a warm and soothing environment with friendly staff so that you'll feel relaxed even before your appointment begins. We offer a variety of sedation options for complete comfort, including oral sedation, general anesthesia, and nitrous oxide.

Your New All-On-4 Smile

Over the next few months, you'll come into our office so that we can check in on your healing. Getting any implants requires some recovery time. Once we fully assess your individual needs and health, we can give you a better idea of how much healing time to anticipate.

Once your mouth is fully healed, the custommade All-On-4 implant will be placed. You'll leave with the smile you've always wanted!

What Should I Expect After All-On-4 Implant Surgery?

When you return home after getting the implants, you will have to be careful not to brush against the tender areas. Do not touch or wash out the area other than some gentle brushing because it's important to keep your mouth clean. You may be prescribed a medication to keep bacteria at bay.

If 24 hours has passed and you have minimal bleeding, you can rinse your mouth with saltwater two or three times a day.

You will need to spend the next few days resting. Do not do any activities that require bending over, lifting heavy objects, or anything else that can be strenuous. When you get up, do it slowly to avoid getting light headed.

We recommend taking pain medication at the first sign of pain and to give yourself plenty of downtime.

If you have any post-surgery concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch! You may experience some minor discomfort or minimal issues, but don't be alarmed! We have provided some common complications and their solutions below.

What if there is Persistent Bleeding After All-On-4 Implant Surgery?

While bleeding is normal during the first 24 hours, if you notice it isn't slowing down, you could be biting down without the gauze packs covering the implant area. Try moving them around and see if that stops the bleeding. If the bleeding persists, you can also try sitting up and using an ice pack, but if the amount of blood concerns you, please don't hesitate to call us for an appointment.

Should I Expect Swelling with All-On-4 Implants?

You will probably feel the most swollen after two or three days post-surgery. Use ice packs on your cheeks 24 hours after the surgery to help control it. Try doing 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.

Can All-On-4 Implant Surgery Cause Nausea?

Nausea is normal and can be due to either swallowing blood or from medication. If nausea continues or gets worse, please call us.

What Else Can I Expect After All-On-4 Implant Surgery?

Bruising

It's normal to see bruising around the surgical area. After the first 36 hours, you can use moist heat to help with the bruising.

Feeling Sharp Sensations in Your Mouth

Don't immediately panic if you feel something sharp in your mouth. It could be bone walls that used to support the now missing teeth.

Dry Lips

Your lips will be dry due to being stretched out from swelling and gauze, make sure to have chapstick on hand.

How Do You Clean All-On-4 Implants?

As mentioned before, with good hygiene, these implants can last a lifetime. There are some basic steps to ensure your new smile stays bright.

Use a soft-bristled brush because they are softer and less likely to cause bleeding or damage to gums. You can still use an electric toothbrush as long as it has soft bristles.

Just as before, brush your teeth twice a day. Make sure to brush under and around the implant. Bacteria and plaque can build up easily.

The next big step is flossing. You should use a water flosser. They are great for getting rid of built-up bacteria without causing damage to the gums. Plus, they get to the hard to reach areas with ease.

In addition to a water flosser, you should invest in crown and bridge floss. It is designed to brush around and under dental implants. If you aren't familiar with this kind of floss, it has two stiff nylon ends that work to clean the surface of the implants. The ends are perfect for getting in between the teeth.

How Much Does All-On-4 Cost?

The cost of All-On-4 Dental Implants varies depending on many factors including how many arches need to be replaced, the material used, and the complexity of the case. At See Me Smile Dental in Santa Barbara, we always go over your care plan to make sure that you understand the costs associated with any procedure. We will also go over our payment options that are available to you.
